The best thing I came across:
“If someone pronounces a word wrong, it means he has learnt that word by reading.”
Now I find this very apt for people who are avid readers and are not confident enough about their speaking skills in public. Also, those who make fun of people who pronounce a word or two wrong should understand this fact very well. If a person is saying something in a wrong speech, you should, instead of making fun of him, respect him and encourage him to say the correct version of it. That will help a ton in building his confidence as well as make a good contribution in restoring his faith in humanity.
