Freshwave Facilities Ltd has submitted a proposal to Somerset Council to install a 23-metre tall 5G Mast in Burnham-On-Sea. The aim of the project is to improve mobile reception coverage in the area, addressing the poor service causedcapacity issues. The company plans to install a monopole at Haven’s Burnham Holiday Village site on Marine Drive.

The proposed mast would have a height of 22.5 metres, with six additional antennae apertures reaching a maximum height of 23.14 metres. Freshwave Facilities Ltd explains that the height of the mast is necessary due to the sensitivity of 5G frequencies to solid objects like trees and buildings.

According to the planning documents, which bear Vodafone branding, the combination of design, topography, and natural and man-made features in the area should help minimize any visual impact on the skyline.
