Samsung has taken the unusual step of employing a Fourth Battery Supplier for its highly anticipated Galaxy S24 series, set to be released early next year. While it is unclear whether this is the first time Samsung has used four battery suppliers for its flagship S-series lineup, it is certainly a departure from the norm.

In September, it was confirmed that Samsung had adopted a three-pronged supply strategy for the Galaxy S24+ model’s battery, with Samsung SDI Vietnam, China’s Ningde Amperex Technology Limited, and ELENTEC India as its suppliers. However, a recent certificate issuedSafety Korea reveals that a fourth supplier, Navitasys India, is now providing batteries for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It is unclear whether the other two S24 models, the base model, and the Plus variant, will also receive batteries from Navitasys India.

The inclusion of two Indian battery suppliers for the Galaxy S24 series could be attributed to the Indian government’s “Made in India” initiative. As for supply shortages, Samsung should have no issues ensuring an adequate battery supply for its Galaxy S24 line. This is good news for consumers, as Samsung has been implementing sustainable practices across its Galaxy phones, including designs that make batteries easier to replace. The company also provides toolkits and instructions for customers to DIY repair smartphone components, with the aim of prolonging the life of its products.

The Galaxy S24 series is expected to be announced in early 2024, with rumors suggesting a January Unpacked event in San Francisco, USA. As always, the series will comprise of three models: the base model, the Plus variant, and the top-tier Ultra variant.
