Resumption of sustainable mining should be priority: Michael Lobo

Panaji, April 4 : Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo on Monday said that the resumption of sustainable Mining should be the priority of the government. ”Resumption of sustainability is important. Mining will give revenue as well as generate employment. The fat budget presented by the government recently will go flat if mining is not started,” he told reporters. The mining operations in Goa had come to a standstill after the Supreme Court quashed 88 mining leases in February 2018. Lobo said the Congress would be vociferous and aggressive whenever required. He said agitations would be taken to a logical end and the government would be told what to do. On Bharatiya Janata Party Goa t President Sadanand Shet Tanavade’s statement against him, he said only Tanavade knows what he is talking about. ”I should have been removed then itself if I was wrong,” he said. Tanavade had alleged that Lobo made money out of ‘loot’ during last BJP regime, Meanwhile, Goa Congress President Amit Patkar informed the State Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar about the appointments of Lobo as Leader of the Opposition and Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira as the Chief Whip of Congress Legislative Party and urged to make necessary seating arrangements in the House of Goa Legislative Assembly. Congress President Sonia Gandhi had made the appointments in the state t of the party recently. AKM ACL1236
