PATNA: Amid growing discontent in the NDA, JD(U) state president Bashishth Narayan Singh said on Saturday his party would not Contest the bypolls for either Araria Lok Sabha or Jehanabad and Bhabhua assembly seats in Bihar. NDA constituents RLSP and HAM (S) have put their claims on Jehanabad seat while Bhabhua seat fell vacant after the death of BJP MLA Anand Bhushan Pandey.
Soon after the JD(U) announcement, leader of opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav said chief minister Nitish Kumar would soon merge his JD(U) with the BJP. Tejashwi, who was in Katihar on Saturday, tweeted that BJP has made JD(U) surrender before it. “JD(U) is not being allowed to contest even a single seat. There is total chaos in NDA. Just wait and enjoy,” he tweeted.
In another tweet, Tejashwi said Nitish could not live without chair and his so-called “good governance” file was kept at the Prime Minister’s Office. “He will soon be sent to the Centre and then made governor of some state. What will JD(U) members do in such a scenario,” he tweeted.
