FIR lodged against director, accountant of flying academy in Amethi

LUCKNOW: Set up by former Prime Minister in 1985, the flying academy located in Amethi district seems to have landed in trouble. A commercial pilot license aspirant who took admission in the academy in 2015 has lodged an FIR against its director, accountant and other staff members.
Registered at Fursatganj police station on Friday evening, the expelled student Anupam Verma alleged that director of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi, retired Air Marshall Vinod Kumar Verma has been running the academy in a partisan manner and used casteist remarks against his community.

An SC/ST from Unnao district, Anupam was expelled from the institute in June 2016.

Since then he had been moving different forums and also trying to appeal before Amethi police to get an FIR registered against IGRUA.

Having shared the set of documents against the institute, Anupam approached Fursatganj police station earlier this week.

On the basis of his complaint and set of documents collected by Anupam, an FIR under IPC sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 166 and 120B was registered besides sections under SC/ST Act. Apart from director, accountant Sachin Tandon has also been named as accused in the FIR.
Anupam also said that though he had paid required fee, the institute management did not provide study material to him. “Instead i was asked to pay bribe just like other students to get the course material,” stated Anupam.
He lodged a complaint with the ministry of civil aviation and other authorities later on to highlight the issue. Later, he was terminated.
The autonomous institute, that is regulated by civil aviation ministry, is run by 11-member governing council. Congress president Rahul Gandhi is member of the council besides director general of civil aviation.
Investigating officer of the case DySP Benoo Singh said prima facie charges were found correct. “I had called the director to give his explanation before case was registered. Anupam had been terminated in a wrongful manner. He got RTI response in his favour. Director could not deny that. He has also submitted some documents that show some corruption too prevails under director Verma’s regime. I would also examine those charges,” said the woman officer posted as circle officer of Tiloi area.
