NEW DELHI: The government today called the US President Donald Trump‘s scathing criticism of Pakistan a vindication of its stand on Pakistan’s link and support to terrorism.
“We can reasonably argue that Trump administration’s decision today has abundantly vindicated India’s stand as far as terror is concerned and as far as Pakistan’s role in perpetrating terror is concerned,” said Minister of State Jitendra Singh.
Earlier today, the US president had said that his country has “foolishly” distributed aid to Pakistan even as it continued its support to terrorists.
“The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies and deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!” Trump said in a tweet.
Hailing Trump’s remark on Pakistan a victory of India’s diplomatic efforts, BJP spokesperson Gvl Narasimha Rao took the opportunity to attack Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
In a tweet, Rao responded to an earlier remark by Rahul in November this year when he had attacked PM Modi for government’s ‘diplomatic failures’.
Congrats to POTUS for calling Terroristan’s bluff & signalling resolve to end Pak’s deceit. Dear RahulG, here are r… https://t.co/L8dB6g7YSB

Rao was referring to a comment made by Rahul in November following the release of JuD chief Hafiz Saeed from house arrest by the Pakistan government.
“Narendrabhai,
The Congress leader had signed off the tweet with “more hugs urgently needed”.
