It is observed that generally dengue cases decrease in numbers as temperature goes down. Now, it is a cause of worry for the health department officials as dengue cases are still being reporting in the state. Principal secretary, health, Veenu Gupta will hold a meeting to review seasonal diseases including dengue on Tuesday.
In Jaipur, 93 persons tested positive for dengue in last one week (Nov 14 to Nov 20). In Kota, the numbers of cases were slightly higher. During the same period, Kota reported 138 cases, while from the entire state, 394 cases were reported.
Health authorities claimed that now dengue cases have started reducing in numbers. “Our figures show that there is noticeable decrease in number of dengue cases, which we were reporting in September and October. In October’s last week, we reported 1,135 dengue cases but in the last week (Nov 14 to Nov 20), only 394 cases were reported from across the state. It shows that the efforts which we have made in controlling the spread of the disease have helped in reducing the number of dengue cases,” said Dr Ravi Prakash Mathur, additional director (rural health) health department.
People in Kota and Jaipur remained most susceptible to dengue infections. More than half of the cases reported in the state were diagnosed in Kota and Jaipur.
So far, this year 7,191 cases have already been reported in the state. Among them, 141 were those who came from other states for treatment. The patients from other states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana also came to the state for treatment of dengue. At least 12 persons died of the disease in 2017 so far.
