Ward panchas get notice for not using loos

Udaipur: Thirty-five ward Panchas in various panchayats of Peepalkhoont block of Pratapgarh distrct were served explanation notice for non-functional Toilets at their homes.

During the last panchayat elections, the candidates had been required to give an affidavit stating that they had toilets at their homes and all the members of their family were using the toilets. However, in a surprise checking held recently in the various wards, the SDM Saurab Swami found that many of the toilets at the panchas homes were not functional. Some of them had been turned into store houses while some were not used for lack of water supply. At few places, the commode seats had not been fixed while at some places the toilets couldn’t be used as the supply from the water tank had not been installed. At some places, the toilet construction had been stopped midway, there were no doors or latches. Notices have been served to panchas at Veerpur,Bori, Nayan, Kachotia, Suhagpura etc.

“All such panchas have been served notices seeking explanation for the affidavits they had filed and the reality situation. If they do not give a satisfactory response, action would be taken under the provisions of the Panchayati Raj Act” Dr. V.C Garg, CEO of Pratapgarh Zila Parishad said.
