NEW DELHI: Congress warned BJP against triumphalism over resolution of Doklam row with China and said it would watch if the thaw was permanent.

Congress’ Anand Sharma said, “We have always stated that solution should be found through diplomacy.” However, responding to statements from saffron leaders that Modi government had scored a big victory over China, he said, “Jingoism and euphoria can be counter-productive and create complications. It is a wrong attitude to claim victory, such language is never used in diplomacy.”

AICC spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said, “A lowering of tensions on the border is good but we have to see for a few days if it was permanent or momentary.” Shashi Tharoor questioned if China agreed to the terms of withdrawal as claimed by India.
