Apparently, OnePlus is planning to launch its first Foldable smartphone soon. According to rumors, the next smartphone is likely to be a rebranded version of the upcoming Oppo Find N5 Flip and may even be better at photography than the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.

In a post on Chinese social media platform Weibo, a tipster named Smart Pikachu claimed that OnePlus parent company Oppo might add a telephoto lens to its next foldable phone. According to TechRadar, OnePlus also plans to add similar lenses. This is the company’s first foldable phone, as the two companies often use the same hardware.

What to expect from the OnePlus foldable smartphone

If the rumors are true, the telephoto lens on OnePlus’ first foldable smartphone could give this model a big advantage over other foldable options. Telephoto lenses not only offer a greater zoom range, but also deliver improved portrait photos.

It is important to note that most phones with a flip design (except the Oppo Find N3 Flip) do not have a telephoto lens. The rumored foldable phone could also benefit from the same Hasselblad color matching found on Oppo and OnePlus’ latest flagships. This includes last year’s foldable models like the OnePlus Open and the Oppo Find N3 Flip.

Previously, there were rumors that the company would discontinue the Oppo Find N5 Flip. However, the seller claimed in his post that Oppo has not given up on foldable products.

This report also shows that the company’s performance is six months behind the competition. This may result in the smartphone maker canceling plans for both foldable phones.

Additionally, Oppo denied the claims, saying foldable phones are a popular form factor. This suggests that the company is unlikely to abandon the Find N Flip series. The report also claims that these phones may be migrated to pure OnePlus versions in the next few days.
