WhatsApp Web users will soon get a new and improved sidebar interface: Reports

Last year it was reported that Whatsapp was developing a new user interface for its web client that would feature a sidebar and a dark mode. According to a new report, the improved design is now rolling out to some users. The new WhatsApp Web feature will be available to some users who have signed up for the web client beta program. This also suggests that a public release may not be far away. Notably, WhatsApp also started using Meta AI for some users in India last week.

According to a report from WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo, the instant messaging platform has started rolling out a new user interface to some users. The report emphasizes that the feature will not be available to all users who sign up for the beta program, as the company is likely only conducting limited testing at this time. The new interface does not add any new features, but instead repositions various parts of the platform into designed areas in the sidebar.

According to the screenshots shared with the publication, the new WhatsApp UI also features a dark mode that improves readability for some users who prefer the white text format on a black background. The sidebar displays icons for chats, forums, status updates, channels, archived chats, starred messages, and even broadcast messages. It also improves navigation in starred messages and archived chats, as these are not accessible with one click in the current version.

The new UI is currently rolling out to beta testers. The report also states that the feature could be available to all users within a few weeks. Meta is working on several features for WhatsApp. Last week, Gadgets 360 discovered a new meta AI chatbot on WhatsApp for Indian users. The feature has now appeared on Instagram and Messenger, and a Meta spokesperson confirmed that the company is testing the feature in new regions.

Previously, it was reported that WhatsApp was working on a link privacy feature that would allow users to disable link previews. This feature is intended to hide explicit information that could be visible to users who could spy on your chat, such as: B. Thumbnails and short descriptions.
