Forest fire in Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary

Udaipur : A Forest Fire broke out in the Aranya mountain ranges of the Sadri range of the Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary located in Rajsamand. Before the efforts to control it could begin, it had already reached the mountain ranges of the Bokhada range on the border of Mewar. Dry grass, along with strong winds, is acting as fuel to the fire, which is advancing steadily.

Forest officials and workers from Kumbhalgarh and Bokhada ranges reached the spot on receiving the information and started the control efforts. The lives of wildlife are in danger due to the Forest fire.

According to sources in the department, the fire engulfed 80-100 hectares of forest area in the Ado-Ko, Andrawari Dhamki, Gundajod to Mal ka Mathara mountain ranges under the Sadri range of the sanctuary, reducing the surface grass and forest wealth to ashes. Smoke clouds were seen rising from the mountains throughout the day. At night, the mountains, bathed in the light of burning old tree stumps, were clearly visible from the roofs of the tall houses in the city.

On Wednesday morning, the fire reached the Sejia Mahadev border from Mal ka Mathara Bokhada range. In the Ranakpur Ghat section, severe fire is also being seen in Lantana bushes along the roadside. The forest fire has put the lives of wildlife in danger. Many bird species and reptiles make their homes in the dense bushes, which are becoming victims of untimely death.
