Apple Foldable iPhone Launch Said to Be Delayed to First Quarter of 2027

Apple is believed to be working on a range of Foldable devices. The Cupertino, California-based company has not announced plans for foldable devices, but recent reports and patents suggest the company is developing foldable iPhones, iPads and large-screen devices called MacBooks. It has been suggested that they work. Earlier this month there were reports that a foldable iPhone could launch in 2026, but now a new report suggests that Apple has pushed back the launch of its first foldable phone to early 2027.

South Korean news outlet AlphaBiz previously claimed that the foldable iPhone was expected to launch in late 2026, but the new report says the device will launch in the first quarter of 2027. That report, citing a person familiar with Apple’s internal plans, said: “Apple has postponed its foldable phone plans due to supply and demand reasons.”

“Apple is fully prepared for any issues, including foldable display demand and supply, and is aware that Apple plans to begin selling foldable iPhones a little later than planned,” the person said. Originally planned for the fourth quarter of 2026, Apple’s foldable smartphone will now be postponed to the first quarter of 2027.

However, the report says that the selection of suppliers for components such as the foldable display that will be built into the device is expected to take place as originally planned.

Earlier this month, the magazine quoted an Apple executive as saying that a foldable iPhone would be released in 2026, saying: “This version comes later than its competitors, so we know it’s a high concentration advanced technologies.” Someone said that back then.

The person claimed that the foldable iPhone will be slimmer and lighter than its competitors, with a particular focus on preventing creases on the foldable screen. Apple has reportedly filed a patent for technology that minimizes creases along the display’s folding axis.

Apple has not yet announced its plans for foldable devices, although the company lags behind rivals Samsung and Google in this product category. Samsung has released five generations of foldable and book-shaped phones, while Google launched the Pixel Fold last year and is reportedly developing a second-generation Pixel Fold.

Changes and conflicting reports about Apple’s foldable products have increased uncertainty about Apple’s plans in this area. It has been widely reported that the company is developing a foldable iPad. Earlier this month, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that Apple’s first foldable model would be a 20.3-inch MacBook, possibly entering mass production in 2027.

Last month, a source on Chinese social media site Weibo claimed that Apple had halted development of a foldable iPhone due to issues with the foldable display.
