Oppo has announced the global rollout plan for Coloros 14, its latest custom Android skin based on Android 14. The update will bring a host of new features and changes, including an upgraded Trinity Engine, a Smart Charging system, and a new privacy-focused Picture Keeper feature.

Global Rollout Plan

The global rollout of ColorOS 14 will begin in November 2023 with the Oppo Find N2 Flip. Other eligible devices will receive the update in the following months.

New Features

• Upgraded Trinity Engine: The Trinity Engine is a set of three technologies designed to improve the performance, battery life, and storage efficiency of Oppo smartphones. The latest version of the engine includes ROM Vitalization, which compresses app and file data to save storage space; RAM Vitalization, which improves the way Android manages RAM; and CPU Vitalization, which balances the chipset’s performance and power usage.

• Smart Charging: ColorOS 14 now features a Smart Charging system that uses an AI algorithm to set the charging current based on whether you’re using the phone and how. This is designed to prolong the battery life of Oppo smartphones.

• Picture Keeper: Picture Keeper is a new privacy-focused feature that adds an extra layer of protection to sensitive photos and videos. This feature allows you to set a password or fingerprint lock for your photos and videos, and it also prevents them from being shared with other apps.

Changes

• New design: ColorOS 14 has a new design that is inspired by water. The new design features a new color palette, new fonts, and new animations.

• Improved privacy: ColorOS 14 includes a number of new privacy features, such as the ability to revoke app permissions, and the ability to block apps from tracking your location.

• Enhanced performance: ColorOS 14 is said to be up to 10% faster than ColorOS 13.

How to Get the Update

The ColorOS 14 update will be rolled out over-the-air (OTA). To check for the update, go to Settings > System > Software Updates. If the update is available, you will be prompted to download and install it.
