While addressing the gathering he said, Common Service Centres are making people literate, empowering them and providing them employment. Union Minister and Local MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma was also present.

Village Dhanauri Kalan in Gautam Buddha Nagar District of Uttar Pradesh has become the sixth Village in India to be connected digitally.  Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad visited candle making unit, Sanitary Pad making unit, LED bulb making unit, telemedicine unit and others established by the Common Service Centre in the village. Speaking on the occasion, Prasad said, Government wants to empower people digitally as India is becoming a digital economy.

Village Dhanauri Kalan comes under the parliamentary constituency of Union culture minister Mahesh Sharma, who has worked in tandem with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to digitize the village.

People in this village are availing all types of services at the Common Service Centre set up in the villages. 

DigiGaon was conceptualized as a connected village where citizens can get various e-services of the Centre and State governments and private players in rural and remote villages of the country. The DigiGaon project is aimed at improving health and education services in rural areas. DigiGaons are projected to be change agents, promoting rural entrepreneurship and building rural capacities and livelihoods through community participation and collective action.
