Bharatiya Janta Party on Friday released its manifesto for the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections.

In the manifesto which has been named BJPVachana4Karnataka, the party has promised to earmark Rs 1.5 lakh crore for irrigation to reducing the burden of debt of farmers.

BJP’s chief ministerial candidiate BS Yeddyurappa said, Welfare of farmers has always been priority and that the party will allocate Rs 1.5 lakh crore for various irrigation projects and ensure water reaches to every field in the state.

The manifesto also stated that free sanitary napkins will be provided to Women from BPL families at Rs. 1 under the new “Stree Suvidha Scheme.”

The party will also launch the “Mukhya Mantri Smartphone Yojana” to provide women from BPL families with free smart phones.

Earlier on Friday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the party’s Mahila Morcha of Karnataka through the Namo App. Prime Minister said that India is marching ahead from women development to women led development.

PM Modi said that the government has recently made stringent amendments in laws relating to crimes against women and children, increasing the punishment up to death penalty in some cases.

PM Modi also spoke about the initiatives taken by the government for women’s empowerment. He said that NDA govt supports women at every stage of their career, whether they want to become home maker, job seeker or job creator. Prime Minister further added that government has always given equal opportunity to women.

Meanwhile, campaigning heats up in Karnataka with several senior BJP leaders addressing public at various places. Union Minister Smriti Irani today hit out at congress President Rahul Gandhi during a public meeting at Dharwad. 

Congress President Rahul Gandhi also addressed a public rally at Kalagi in the state. He asserted that Siddaramaiah govt has worked for the welfare of people of the state and that is why people will give congress party another chance.
