Coolpad Max Launched in India at Rs 24,999, Features Metal Body, Snapdragon 617 and 4GB of RAM

Coolpad had made a foray into the Indian market last year with Coolpad Note 3 followed by the Note 3 Lite. Today, the company has launched the Coolpad Max in India priced at Rs 24,999. The primary emphasis of the device seems to be on security as it boasts of offering encrypted calls and messaging feature.

The Coolpad Max comes equipped with a 5.5-inch FHD 2.5D display and is powered by Snapdragon 617 clocked at 1.5GHz along with a 4GB of RAM. The Coolpad Max comes completely clad in a metallic body and it looks sleek. The hemispherical antenna lines running along the phone come in a contrasting color thus adding a dash of freshness to the device. On the memory front the Coolpad Max offers  64GB of Internal memory along with an expandable memory card slot. Fingerprint scanner is housed at the back below the camera lens unit.

Coolpad Max is fitted with a 13-Megapixel primary sensor with 6P lenses, PDAF and the secondary camera shapes up in the form of a 5-Megapixel sensor. The connectivity features include the standard 4G LTE support, Dual SIM, WiFi 802.11, 2800mAh battery with fast charging support and Bluetooth 4.0. Coolpad Max runs on Cool UI which is in turn is based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Coolpad has not exactly been aggressive in the Indian market but nevertheless Coolpad Note 3 has fared good. It was in fact one of the most affordable handset to come with a fingerprint sensor when it was launched. Priced at Rs 24,999 Coolpad Max will directly be rivaling the likes of Lenovo Zuk Z1, Motorola Moto G4 Plus, OnePlus and even the Xiaomi Mi 5 which comes with Snapdragon 820. That being said, the pricing of the Coolpad Max is definitely on the higher side as opposed to its competition and this is something that might deter customers from going in for the device.

The highlight of this phone on the software end has to be the space management system that lets users have two accounts on WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger and other apps. The device also encrypts all the user data including call logs, texts and messages.

Coolpad Max will be exclusively available in Royal Gold and Rose Gold colors on Amazon and can be purchased starting from May 30. Even though Coolpad is not much known outside the Chinese market it has been rebranded by many manufacturers including YU. That being said, its alleged that LeEco recently bought a major stake in Coolpad making it the largest shareholder in the company and thus eventually allowing the former to have a better foothold in the Indian smartphone market.
