After launching the new version of Tvos in September last year, Apple has now extended support for live news streaming. The new feature was pushed as part of the update and US viewers should be able to see live news channels listed on their Apple TV. Apple had earlier launched a sports section for the TV app.

The Live News section allows users to access the live stream from the News channels. As of now the list of live news channels is a bit underwhelming but it still includes CBS News, CNN, Fox News, Cheddar, CNBC and Bloomberg. That being said, you would still need to install a dedicated application for the news networks from the App Store. The TV app will make use of single login credentials and log in into each of the services. The bottom line is that you can access all the Live news channel without having to leapfrog through apps.

Apple had earlier demoed this feature during the Apple 4K TV launch last year. Earlier on, the feature only supported sports channels and now it supports Live News as well. Moreover, you can still play specific news networks by using Siri, for instance, you can access CBS telecast by simply saying “Play CBS News.” The tvOS will manage all the feeds and will also manage your logins. The news section is now also accessible in the “Watch Now” menu. The new feature should be available considering that you have updated to the latest iOS 11.2.5 and tvOS 11.2.5.

As far as specifications are concerned, the CPU performance on the Apple TV 4K is times as that of its predecessor, thanks to the new A10X processor along with the new version of the tvOS. The Apple TV 4K is capable of handling 4K video up to 60 fps. The Blu-ray supporting 60fps are already in the market and this kind of makes the Apple TV 4K future-proof.
