Airbnb Partners with WeWork to Cater for the Needs of Business Travellers

Airbnb has been one of the preferred ways of staying across the world without relying on traditional hotels. In fact, its only in Airbnb that one can soak up the local culture and add a touch of homeliness to their stay. Earlier this year Airbnb debuted a certain class of accommodation that was Work-Friendly and offered all the digital mediums that one would need to work. Called the “Business Travel Ready” the homes would come with high-speed internet and a work desk.

Now the company has partnered with Wework in order to help its business travellers. WeWork is a coworking space that has a commendable global footprint. The WeWork spaces are well equipped with work desk, Wi-Fi, printers and meeting rooms. Starting now Airbnb users can book a desk or a conference room at the nearest WeWork location. The company is currently piloting the new feature in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Washington and Sydney. During the process of renting an accommodation, the Airbnb users will be able to book the We Work workspace as well.

That being said the program is still not available for everyone and Airbnb has not revealed further details as well. WeWork is currently valued at $20 billion and is one of the largest providers of shared workspaces. The WeWork model works best for professionals who travel a lot and cannot be tied down with an expensive lease. Business Travel category is currently a lucrative business opportunity for most of the companies. In fact, just a couple of days back TripActions, a Bay Area-based company was funded $12.5 million by a round led by Lightspeed Venture. The company had already managed to raise a Series A Round of $27.1million.

Airbnb is pretty appealing to the young generation and people like me who would love to see the cultural side of the places I travel to. Regular hotels are often nondescript and don’t offer the excitement that the Airbnb spaces offer. That being said Airbnb has been often hit by the regulatory hammer and is currently working its way up by aiming to be regulation friendly.
