ZUS is a Smart Tire Safety Monitoring System That Helps Prevent Accidents

While most of us usually consider the Airbags, ABS, traction control and other electronic gadgetry as the most primal safety features we need to realise that there is something apart from this that can make you car unsafe. No, I am not talking about seatbelt but the tyre pressures. While most of the luxury cars come laden with this feature of monitoring Tire pressure constantly the cars in the budget segment get left out.

While one should always keep an eye on Tire Pressure and adhere to the pressure levels prescribed by the manufacturers it’s not always very accurate. The reason being that the tyre pressure starts increasing/decreasing depending on the tire temperature and this is something you cannot monitor in real time. Fret not, a new Indiegogo project claims to solve this problem with its smart plugin tire monitor.

The tire monitor hooks up to your smartphone and relays the information via Bluetooth on the companion app. The statistics state that nearly 1 in every four cars has an under inflated tire and this is most likely to increase the possibility of a crash by 3X.

How does the ZUS Tyre Pressure detector work?

ZUS comes with a tire detection sensor that obviously works wirelessly and the sensor is screwed on the air inlet port of the car. Apart from detecting the pressure in real-time the sensor also detects the slow leak and indicate which tire is leaking and at what rate.

The app stores the cars temperature and pressure history and will put the algorithm to work which will eventually tell you the average tire pressure and whether or not your tire is leaking. The best part is that the sensor can be plugged into any cars even the rental ones and this makes the ZUS tire pressure detector super useful.

The ZUS Tire Pressure module is made up of a hub which needs to be connected to the 12V output all the time and the four sensors, one for each wheel. All of the components connect to the ZUS app and the same will curate all the information and also notify you if the tire is leaking thus preventing a potential accident. It is also worth mentioning that unlike ZUS the typical TPMS on the cars only indicate the decrease in tire pressure and don’t show the rate of pressure decrease of the tire in which its happening.

In order to prevent the theft of the sensor, it comes with an anti-lock system which prevents the sensors from being easily unscrewed (seems more of an inconvenience.) The ZUS Tire Pressure Indicator is up for grabs on Indiegogo and the pledge typically begins at $97 and the timeline pegs shipping in August 2017.
