New Leak Reveals a Lot About the HTC One M10 Including Snapdragon 820 and a QHD Display

With the time closing in on the year’s biggest launches, leaks are now starting to pour in revealing almost all the new upcoming products. We saw the Samsung Galaxy S7’s leak not so long ago, LG’s G5 was in the news sometime back but that one device which hadn’t made an appearance – the HTC’s One M10 has now showed up in this new coverage by VentureBeat, courtesy the prolific leaker, Evan Blass.

According to the source, the HTC One M10 (codenamed HTC Perfume) will come with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 SoC along with the Adreno 530 GPU. The company, that once believed the specifications don’t matter, is now going all out as the device is tipped to sport 4GB of RAM, at least 32GB of internal storage (expandable via a Micro SD slot), a 1440 x 2560 QHD display (AMOLED most probably) and will run on the HTC’s Sense 8.0 UI on top of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Also, it will rock a fingerprint scanner on the front that will be embedded in the home button just like HTC’s recent products.

Just like last year, Camera will remain the focus point as that’s the part everyone criticized the most about, their Ultrapixel technology lacked detail on the One M8 and last year’s One M9 with a 20MP sensor was just a joke when it came to the camera performance. This year however, HTC is going back to the ultrapixel department but fixing the problems with the One M10 offering a 12-Ultrapixel resolution rear camera with laser-assisted autofocus. Also, both the front and back shooters will be packing OIS.

However there’s a bad news, HTC is expected to be ditching the awesome Boomsound front firing speakers this time. Though it is not yet confirmed whether it will be on the back or at the bottom. You will also more likely to see design alterations on the One M10 and according to some sources, it will feature the same aesthetics we saw on the One A9.

All the eyes will be on how HTC will handle the things they got wrong with their previous products, camera will be a make or break situation this time as the products they release otherwise are fine for the most part. Back in December, Cher Wang, company’s CEO claimed that they will be making substantial changes in their product lineups to get back in the game which is why this will be one of the most important years for them as they aren’t doing that well when it comes to the Market share and revenue. Fitness is also expected to be a focus when it comes to the software on the One M10.

Samsung will be showcasing their devices in February during MWC 2016 and I’m sure they have big plans to take over the flagship market once again making it harder for HTC to impress. HTC needs to make improvements when it comes to the budget market with increasing number of OEMs launching better valued handsets resulting in a way difficult paradigm for a smartphone company to just make money through premium devices.

HTC will not unveiling the One M10 next month at the Mobile World Congress according to the report, instead they will reportedly hold another event possibly in March for the same.
