At the end of November two thousand nineteen, the French declassified the first rechargeable Hybrid of the Citroen brand. It turned out to be the C5 Aircross Plug-in Hybrid crossover, which from the outside from the usual versions of the model can only be distinguished by its characteristic blue decor and special nameplates.

As for the interior, here the modification can boast of a 12.3-inch digital tidy with unique graphics and an 8.0-inch screen of the multimedia system. Plus, the car has a special rear-view mirror with auto-dimming and blue backlighting, which is activated when the car is operated in a purely Electric mode.

Citroen C5 Aircross Plug-in Hybrid received a similar power plant as the electrified versions of the Peugeot 508 and 3008. The car is driven by a 1.6-liter PureTech turbo-four petrol engine with 180 hp. and an eight-speed automatic, combined with a 110-horsepower electric motor located on the front axle. In total, these units are capable of generating 225 “horses” and 320 Nm of torque.

The electric motor receives power for its operation from a traction battery with a capacity of 13.2 kWh. The latter is located at the rear, due to which the volume of the trunk of the crossover has decreased to 460-600 liters (depending on the position of the second row of seats) against 580-720 liters for conventional versions.

With the help of this battery, the crossover can travel on electric traction up to 50 km (according to the WLTP cycle). It takes about two hours to fully recharge the battery from a branded 7.4-kilowatt device “Wall Box”, and from a regular outlet – 7 hours.

In mixed mode, the C5 Aircross hybrid claims fuel consumption of 1.7 l / 100 km, with 39 grams of carbon dioxide emissions per kilometer. The model is known to have several driving modes: Electric, Hybrid and Sport. In the fully electric preset, the maximum speed is limited to 135 km / h.

The e-Save mode stands apart, when activated, the electronics saves the battery charge for the mileage set by the driver, which can be useful if at the end of the route the car has to pass the so-called “green zone” where the use of internal combustion engines is prohibited.

In France, taking orders for the hybrid Citroen C5 Aircross has already started, the price of such a car there starts at 39,950 euros, but the first “live” cars will appear in the showrooms of local dealers only in the middle of two thousand and twenty.
