On December 27, 2019, the premiere of the first Turkish Car brand TOGG, which is an alliance of five other local firms, took place. The event was attended by the head of state, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, while prototypes of the company’s first cars, namely an electric crossover and a sedan, were shown to the president and others present.

It is known that specialists from the Italian design studio Pininfarina were responsible for the appearance of Turkish cars. Given that the latter regularly come up with a look for cars of various brands, the result they have obtained cannot be called unique.

For example, the design of the front of the Italians clearly spied on their previous projects – the conceptual crossover HKG K350 and the Vietnamese SUV VinFast. However, despite some borrowing, both TOGG models look quite modern and stylish.

In particular, the presented prototypes received “boomerangs” of LED DRLs, door handles and cameras “recessed” into the body instead of traditional side mirrors. TOGG has not yet advertised the interior of the models, but it is known that the cars will receive a modern interior, one of the key features of which will be a kind of “Holographic Assistant”, which is planned to be implemented using the Eye Tracking system.

According to the developers, such a solution can become an alternative to the current layout with two displays, where one is used as a dashboard, and the other – for the needs of the multimedia system. Presumably, the driver will be able to see all the instrument readings without taking his eyes off the road.

As for the technical stuffing of Turkish cars, the head of TOGG Gurcan Karakas said that two configurations will be offered for each model: rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The first of them has one electric motor (200 HP), and the second has two (400 HP).

It is reported that rear-wheel drive cars are capable of accelerating from zero to a hundred in 7.6 seconds and travel at least 300 km. In turn, all-wheel drive modifications cope with this task in 4.8 seconds, while they are equipped with a more capacious battery, which provides a cruising range of over 500 kilometers.

Unfortunately, the Turks did not specify which model (crossover or sedan) these characteristics belong to, but they noticed that it is possible to replenish the battery charge of cars from 0-80% in less than 30 minutes. The production versions of TOGG are expected to also receive a second level autopilot, which can be further upgraded to the third level with the help of updates “over the air”.

Serial production of new products is planned to be established at a plant under construction near the city of Bursa. It is expected that the first-borns of the Turkish brand will appear on the market in 2022, while by two thousand and thirty the brand’s model range will have to consist of five cars. The Turks are planning to sell cars both in the home market and abroad (for example, in Europe).
