In the summer of the twentieth, Ford introduced a new generation of the F-150 pickup, and in February of the twenty-first, the Americans presented an extreme version of the model, which traditionally received the “Raptor” prefix in its name.

The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor features a more aggressive exterior with black wheel arch liners. The wheels themselves are “shod” in BFGoodrich All-Terrain T / A KO2 tires, which can be either 35 “or 37”. In the first case, the Ground Clearance is declared at 305 mm, and in the second – already 333 mm.

A car with a higher ground clearance has entry and exit angles of 33.1 and 24.9 degrees, respectively. Note that the new Ford F-150 Raptor body is offered exclusively with the SuperCrew two-row cab. The salon boasts a 12.0-inch digital tidy and modern multimedia with an over-the-air update function.

For a surcharge, Recaro bucket chairs and a converter for connecting external electrical appliances with a power of up to 2 kW are available. The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor is powered by the former 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine. On the predecessor, the output of this unit is 457 hp. and 692 Nm, and its characteristics have not yet been advertised on the new product.

The motor works in tandem with a ten-speed automatic machine. The drive is already complete in the base – with a multi-plate clutch for connecting the front wheels. The rear axle has an electromechanical locking differential as standard, and a Torsen front limited-slip differential can be ordered for a surcharge. It is reported that the pickup is capable of towing a trailer weighing up to 3.7 tons.

In addition to the usual Normal, Sport and Off-Road driving modes, the driver can activate a number of other presets, including Slippery (winter), Tow / Haul (towing), Baja (for desert racing) and Rock Crawl (for climbing rocks) ). We also note that the extreme truck has received a new exhaust system with a controlled damper.

The release has four operating modes (Normal, Quiet, Sport and Baja), which differ from each other in volume. In addition, the new F-150 Raptor received a reinforced frame, and its main feature is a modified suspension. In the chassis of the pickup truck appeared “omnivorous” Fox LiveValve shock absorbers, which not only have external reservoirs, but also electronic stiffness control.

Plus, the Americans developed an original five-link scheme with clever kinematics for the rear continuous axle – all this made it possible to achieve impressive suspension travels: 356 mm at the front and 381 mm at the rear. Sales of the Ford F-150 Raptor in a new body will start in the States in the summer of 2021, there is no information on prices yet. At the same time, the company announced a modification of the Raptor R, which will receive a more powerful V8 engine.
