We Are Looking For Nissan Teana (j32) On The Secondary: “sores” And Operational Features

The second generation Nissan Teana in the back of the J32 was produced from 2008 to 2013, and since the summer of two thousand and nine, the assembly of this model has been set up at a plant in St. Petersburg. In our market, the car could be bought with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

People interested in buying a used Teana are probably interested in learning about the main “sores” of this model. They will be discussed below.

Exterior and interior

The owners of the Nissan Teana J32 do not particularly complain about rust, however, specialized forums are literally full of messages about the quickly cloudy outer chrome.

The interior of the Japanese sedan is spacious and luxurious enough, but the morally outdated wood-like inserts and the display, which is relatively small by today’s standards, immediately give out the true age of the model. Unfortunately, used cars often have sagging seat cushions and frayed steering wheel covers.

Power units

The front-wheel drive Teana was offered with two naturally aspirated engines: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder VQ25DE with 182 hp. and a 3.5-liter six-cylinder VQ35DE with 249 horsepower. All-wheel drive versions were equipped exclusively with a 2.5-liter “four” QR25DE, developing 167 “horses”.

All motors are highly reliable and have a resource of more than 300,000 km, while the six-cylinder unit, with proper care, is even able to overcome the half-million mark. At the same time, a timing chain drive is used on these engines (150-200 thousand km serves).

With runs over 120-150 thousand km, Teany’s power units often begin to sin with increased oil consumption, which leads to the accumulation of carbon deposits and deposits, including in the crankcase ventilation system. The main thing here is not to start the problem and clean and replace the rings in time. To avoid trouble, it is necessary to periodically flush the injectors and the throttle valve.

Another weak point of the engines is the oil pump, which rarely lives up to 100-120 thousand km. The thermostat does not differ in durability either, which is recommended to be changed every 60,000 km. In addition, on a V6 engine, with a mileage of 80,000 km or more, supports are given up.

Gearbox (variators)

In conjunction with the listed motors on Teana, a non-alternative variator is combined. On the pre-reform cars with “fours”, the Jacto JF011E box is used, and after restyling it was replaced by the more advanced JF016E model.

Due to the use of the latter, Japanese engineers managed to reduce fuel consumption and the level of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. However, the new CVT had its drawbacks, namely a less resourceful torque converter.

In turn, the V6 version of the model is equipped with a Jatco JF010E variator, which is designed for a higher torque. All of these transmissions are again quite reliable, however, their wear begins to manifest itself at 100-150 thousand kilometers.

The resource of the JF011E and JF016E boxes is about 200-250 thousand km, and on the JF010E – a little more (copies are known that have departed more than 300 thousand km). However, here everything is not so simple: practice shows that in the Russian Federation the latter, on the contrary, “burns out” faster. This is due to the fact that this box is especially sensitive to overheating in winter.

Four-wheel drive

There are not so many all-wheel drive offers on the secondary market – about a sixth of all cars. In such cars, the clutch is a weak low-resource unit. With active driving, the latter can overheat and burn out, although in fact, in fact, the variator is still the first to fail, acting as a kind of limiter.

By the way, for buyers of used Nissan Teana it will not be superfluous to keep in mind the possible expenses for busting the variator (about 100-150 thousand rubles). It might even be worth bargaining with the seller for an appropriate discount.

Other

Buyers of used Tean should also be prepared for problems with electrical equipment, since sensors on a car often rot. After 100,000 km of run on a sedan, power window units, a radiator fan, steering column switches and fuses may fail, and after 150,000 km there are frequent failures of the climate and multimedia systems.

As for the chassis, it is on the second generation of the model made conscientiously, while owners should better avoid versions with electronically controlled shock absorbers, which often sin with adjustment drive failures.

Prices

To date, you can buy a used Nissan Teana J32 at a price of 550,000 rubles – usually this is how much they ask for early front-wheel-drive cars of 2008 with a 2.5-liter engine. More “fresh” (restyled) copies cost from 670,000 rubles and more.

Average market value of a front-wheel drive sedan with a base engine in 2013 is in the region of 840,000 rubles, while for the same four-wheel drive cars they ask for 880,000 rubles. The most expensive at the same time are four-doors with a top-end V6 engine – about 940,000 rubles.
