Jeep officially unveiled the flagship three-row SUVs Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer in March twenty first. Both models have the same bodywork with a proprietary seven-section radiator grille and differ from each other only in individual components.

You can recognize the Grand version of the SUV from the usual one by slightly different bumpers and hood, extended chrome decor and more technologically advanced “stuffing” of the headlights. Plus, on the erased model, the inscription “Wagoneer” flaunts directly on the radiator grille, and not on the edge of the hood.

Jeep lineup

Jeep Wagoneer 2021-2022 in a new body can have eight or seven seats, and in the second case, separate “captain’s” seats are installed in the middle row. The Americans report that the volume of the car’s interior is 5.08 cubic meters (for comparison, on the Tahoe it is 4.77 cubic meters). The third row here is full and quite suitable for the carriage of three adult passengers.

In the base, the SUV’s interior is trimmed with Nappa leather, and the list of its equipment is represented by a two-spoke steering wheel, a virtual instrument panel with a 10.3-inch display and a Uconnect multimedia system with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, under which there is a block of analog keys for controlling climate control.

In turn, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer has a more expensive interior trim with aluminum and wood veneer inserts. Nappa leather is used here only for the most affordable execution, while the more expensive versions are finished in more luxurious leather. Plus, the older version in the base is equipped with captain’s seats in the second row.

Also, the Grand version has a 12.3-inch tidy and 12.0-inch multimedia, while for a surcharge, the interior of such a car can be equipped with five more displays. Among them are two 10.3-inch screens, one for climate control and heating (located at the bottom of the center console), and the other for the entertainment of the front passenger (located directly in front of him).

Three more “paid” monitors with a diagonal of 10.1 “are on the back. Two of them are built into the backs of the front seats, and the third is located between the second row seats. In addition, the top-end SUV boasts a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system (950 watts), although even more sophisticated “music” with 23 speakers (1,385 watts) is available for a surcharge.

It is curious that there are no Jeep nameplates either on the body or in the interior of the cars. This is due to the fact that the Americans are positioning flagship SUVs separately from the rest of the brand’s models.

In terms of chassis and main components, the frame Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer 2021 are largely unified with the RAM 1500 pickup. In terms of dimensions, both cars are identical. In length they reach 5 435 mm, their wheelbase is 3 124, width – 2 123, height – 1 920. Trunk volume in the three-row version – 776 liters (according to the American EPA method).

A double wishbone suspension is installed on the front of the car, and a five-link suspension at the back. By default, springs are involved in the suspension design, and the ground clearance is declared at 210 millimeters. For a surcharge, an air suspension Quadra-Lift is offered, in which the maximum clearance value can reach 257 mm, while the car is able to “squat” in the parking lot, thereby facilitating the process of getting on / off.

The regular 2021 Jeep Wagoner is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 petrol engine with 397 hp. (548 Nm) with starter-generator. Such a motor works in tandem with an eight-speed automatic machine. The basic versions of the SUV have rear-wheel drive, and for the more expensive ones, a whole set of all-wheel drive transmissions is offered.

The most affordable of these is the Quadra-Trac I system with a front-wheel drive clutch. The more advanced Quadra-Trac II transmission is complemented by a reduction gear, and there is also the Quadra-Drive II, which, among other things, has an electronically controlled rear differential lock.

The Grand Wagoneer model is equipped with a 6.4-liter V8 with 477 horsepower (617 Nm). He also works in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic, but the car already in the base has an all-wheel drive Qudra-Trac II transmission and the aforementioned air suspension. From a place to a hundred, such a car is capable of accelerating in about 6.0 seconds.

All versions of the Wagoneer are capable of towing a trailer weighing up to 4.5 tons, while the Advanced All-Terrain Package is offered for an additional charge, which includes a metal underbody protection.

For a regular Wagoner, you can also order the Active Driving Assist system (the Grand is equipped with it by default). The latter is a cruise control with the function of keeping the car in the lane, while at the end of the year the Americans promise to upgrade it by allowing the driver to take his hands off the steering wheel while driving on the highway.

The production of Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs has been established at the Stellantis plant in the American Warren (Michigan). The start of sales of both cars in the United States is scheduled for late spring 2021.

Prices for the “regular” Wagoneer start at 59,995 dollars (4,415,000 rubles at the current exchange rate), and the SUV will have to compete with the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition and Toyota Sequoia models.

In turn, the Grand-version costs at least $ 88,995 (6,550,000 rubles), while its direct competitors in the company see the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator and Lexus LX. In the future, both models will appear in other markets.
