The long-awaited premiere of the new Acura Nsx II generation supercar took place at the Detroit Auto Show 2015. Initially, the pre-production version of the model was shown in the same place back in 2012, and in 2013 the manufacturer slightly modified the prototype and added an interior to it.

The serial version of Acura NSX 2017-2018 in a new body externally turned out to be quite close to the source. Among the changes can be noted slightly retouched bumpers with a different mesh in the air intakes, a different design of the rims, redesigned rear-view mirrors, air duct slots on the hood and extended ventilation holes on the sidewalls.

The interior of the Acura NSX 2 features sports seats and a steering wheel, while the tall, gracefully curved center console and wide door pockets create a cockpit feel. The dashboard is completely digital and high quality materials are used in the decoration.

Specifications

The overall length of the new Acura NSX II is 4,470 mm, the wheelbase is 2,630, the width is 1,940, and the height is 1,215. The serial version of the supercar in all directions is slightly larger than the original prototype.

The supercar is based on a space frame, in the construction of which ultra-high-strength steels, aluminum and carbon (for the floor) are used. The body panels are made from a combination of aluminum and special polyester sheet metal (SMC). The mass of the coupe was 1,725 ​​kg, and the weight distribution along the axles was 42:58 in favor of the rear wheels.

The new 2017 Acura NSX is powered by a hybrid powertrain, which includes a 500-horsepower DOHC V6 twin-turbo petrol engine located in the base, a 9-speed dual-clutch transmission and as many as three electric motors. Two of them are located on the front axle (both with 36 hp) and are responsible for the rotation of each of the front wheels.

The third electric motor with a return of 47 hp. placed between the internal combustion engine and the gearbox. It helps the latter when changing stages and provides the gasoline engine with additional traction on the rear axle during sharp accelerations. From zero to hundred, the coupe accelerates in 3.1 seconds, and the top speed of the new NSX II reaches 307 km / h.

The total output of all engines on the Acura NSX 2 reaches 573 hp. and 644 Nm of torque, which puts the car on a par with such models as the Audi R8 II V10 (540 hp), Ferrari 458 Italia (570 hp) and the Porsche 911 Turbo (520 hp). Not a bad company!

The supercar is set on mixed wheels with a diameter of 18 inches at the front and 19 at the rear, “shod” in ContiSportContact tires. Six-piston mechanisms at the front and four-piston at the rear are responsible for braking, while carbon-ceramic mechanisms are available for a surcharge. The control electronics on the Acura NSX 2 have four operating modes: Quiet, Sport, Sport + and Track. The first of them implies movement on electric traction, but only for short distances.

Options and prices

Acceptance of orders for the Acura NSX 2 in the USA was supposed to begin in the summer of 2015, and the delivery of the first machines to customers was planned to begin in the fall. But in the end, the terms were shifted, so the start of accepting orders was postponed to the end of the year – the price of a car overseas varies from 156,000 to 205,700 dollars. The first customers received their cars in May 2016.

It is noteworthy that earlier representatives of the company stated that it would be possible to buy a new Acura NSX II in Russia. But when exactly this will happen and how much such a car can cost at the current rate, there is no information. Later it became known that due to the crisis in the foreseeable future we will not see a new NSH – due to low sales, the Acura brand decided to leave the Russian market.

Note also that the first generation of the Acura NSX model was produced in the period from 1990 to 2005. Moreover, in all markets, with the exception of North America and Hong Kong, the car was known as the Honda NSX. The new generation of the model in Europe is also decided to be sold under the Honda brand.
