A long awaited update to the popular Boosted Boards collection is now here! Today Boosted announced the Boosted Board V2, the 2nd generation of their electric skateboards. The key differences are said to be an extended battery range, water-resistant electronics, and advanced connectivity.

Boosted Board V2 Battery

The battery seems to be the biggest upgrade and difference between the new Boosted Board V2 and the original Boosted electric skateboards. Customers now have the choice of the original battery featuring 99Watt hours and 6-7 miles of range or a new more powerful battery.

One thing that customers must know is that the new battery is NOT safe to take on airplanes. The original battery is allowed.

The new battery for the Boosted Board V2 generation doubles the power with 199 Watt hours and provides 12-14 miles of range for the board. When so many other electric skateboards such as the Evolve Bamboo series and the Yuneec E-Go boast 18 miles of range, this was an upgrade that Boosted Boards desperately needed.

One additional feature is that the batteries are now user-replaceable which allows riders to replace their used battery pack with a freshly charged one. Now remember that the battery pack is still screwed in with 6 screws so it does require some time and a screwdriver to fully swap out batteries.

Boosted Board V2 Drivetrain

The drivetrain has also been updated in Boosted Board V2 boards. It was designed from the ground up to be more durable, lightweight, and more powerful than the original boosted boards design. Boosted seems really to be reaching out to those DIY-ers with first the battery swapping and now the new drivetrain is entirely user serviceable.

Below shows the full list of changes in the drivetrain. As you can see Boosted has made substantial improvements. What this means to you is that the Boosted Boards V2 collection will have more motor torque, cooler operation, a lighter weight, and easier maintenance.

Full List of drive train changes:

• All parts are user-serviceable
• Replaceable skid plates to reduce cosmetic damage to the board
• New wheel pulley to reduce belt slip
• Improved sensor suite increases system reliability
• Motors are larger in diameter but shorter in length allowing an increase in reliability while maintaining the same weight
• New belt covers allowing the drivetrain to run cooler than before

Other Improvements

The new generation also features a number of other minor improvements in comparison to the battery and drivetrain. The bluetooth radio has also been updated to increase the strength and reliability of the signal. There is also a second bluetooth signal now to allow riders to track the details of each of their rides.

Boosted has also added an accessory port on this new generation of boards. The accessory port is designed to provide power for accessories to the board such as headlights, LED light up strips for flair,  or allow you to charge devices(your cellphone!) off of the board.

For international customers, this is a doozy. Boosted now has international certification which allows them to sell boards overseas. They are now accepting reservations from customers all over the world for the Boosted Boards V2 electric skateboards.
