According to sources who spoke to the Daily Mail, McIlroy and Stoll have hit a “breaking point.” The golfer and his wife have been living “separate lives” for nearly two years because of his travel.
After Stoll gave birth to the couple’s child, Poppy, she became a full-fledged Mother and was “absent for most of [McIlroy’s] tournaments” due to her commitment.
This has weighed on the couple, according to the report.
It’s an all-too-common story of a wife being upset with her husband due to golf. Except this time, it’s the husband’s career:
“She knew what she was getting into with his profession, but once they had Poppy, things really changed, and she had a new perspective.”
McIlroy and Stoll have a prenuptial agreement, but the terms of it have not yet been released.
