Tiger Woods And Michael Block Finally Have Something In Common

Tiger Woods started the day full of vigor, fuelled by the motivation to make another cut in a major. After a poor finish that included two ‘three-whips’ on his 17th and 18th holes on Thursday, Tiger posted a +1 score of 72 at Valhalla.

He came out the blocks today with a par on the first before dunking a treble bogey, bogey, treble bogey stretch that saw him tumble down the leaderboard, likely done for the week save for an incredible comeback.

His first triple bogey was eerily similar to the quadruple we saw from Michael Block on Thursday. It wasn’t so much the teeth bared by Valhalla, more just an unfortunate turn of events around the greens. The web of consecutive bad short-game shots was uncharacteristic of Tiger, as he looks set to miss the cut at this year’s PGA.

Tiger fluffed his third, skulled his fourth from the bunker, and saw his fifth shot settle in another bunker before splashing out to two-putt for a seven.

Block also was greenside in two before flying the green twice and ending up with an 8 on a relatively straightforward par four.

Unfortunately for Block, his quote about having a world-class short game will follow him around for some time.
