Scottie Scheffler has been through the wringer this weekend, and it finally caught up with him as he posted his first over-par round in what seems like an eternity with a Saturday 72.

He started the round in poor fashion, carding a double bogey followed by two more bogeys to sit +4 through his first 4 holes. His long-time caddie Ted Scott wasn’t present either, with family commitments back home that had been agreed upon before the tournament.

Scheffler was clearly rattled by the incident with the Louisville police department, which has a lot to answer for. Considering he did nothing wrong and has had to go through this ordeal, which has clearly impacted his chances at Valhalla, it’s nothing short of an abomination.

Scheffler’s lawyer, Steve Romines, has been vocal regarding the strategy going forward—there will be an arraignment in which Scheffler will plead not guilty, and there will be no settlement talks of any kind.

Todd Lewis reported that Scottie admitted it finally caught up to him:

“I talked to my lawyer on the phone to try and process what really happened. I don’t think it hit me until this morning what actually transpired yesterday.”

Scheffler's charges include one felony count of second-degree assault of a police officer, along with three misdemeanors: criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from officers directing traffic. This is bound to affect your mental state. Combined with not having Ted Scott by his side and just becoming a father a week ago, it is a travesty that this has happened to Scheffler while doing nothing wrong.

Louisville Metro Police Department said that all traffic lanes at the scene were closed while the fatality that had occurred was being investigated:

The department said:

"LMPD personnel were also directing traffic around the scene. While an officer was directing traffic, an encounter with a motorist attempting to make entry into a restricted area ultimately led to the driver being arrested. We are in the process of conducting a thorough investigation. We are appreciative that all parties involved are fully cooperating."

However, Steve Romines made it clear that Scheffler did not drive through a crime scene and that this misinformation was to be quashed. Further developments state that the police body camera footage was not switched on, which may be a factor in any prosecution case against Scheffler.
