Scottie Scheffler Arrives at PGA Championship Following Arrest

When Scottie Scheffler takes to the tee box at 10:08 a.m. EDT at Valhalla, it will be the end of quite the morning for the world’s No. 1 golfer.

In an update to this morning’s story about Scheffler being arrested in connection with an incident at a crash scene, Scheffler has arrived at Valhalla Golf Club for the second round of the PGA Championship:

The chain of events began before 5 a.m. when a shuttle bus connected to the course struck and killed a pedestrian outside the course’s property.

Then, Scheffler was driving to the course to prepare for his second-round tee time when he was told to stop at the crash scene by police. ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington witnessed the scene and the events that led to Scheffler’s arrest.

Scheffler was booked with four charges total:

  • 2nd Degree Assault of a Police Officer
  • 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief
  • Reckless Driving
  • Disregarding Signals from Officers Directing Traffic

The start of the second round was delayed due to the deadly crash early this morning. As a result, Scheffler’s tee time was moved from 8:48 a.m. to 10:08 a.m. before his arrest took place.

While the repercussions from this will last for quite some time, attention will turn to the course shortly. Scheffler sits at -4 after one round, five shots back of Xander Schauffele. The Masters champion has won four of his last five tournaments before taking the last month off to give birth to his child.
