Chervo Golf: An Italian Masterclass in Apparel and Gear

Tags: chervo polo golf

Style, quality, and class. Those are the three words I’d use to describe Chervo, an Italian brand that has brought some of the finest and most exquisite pieces to modern golf in recent memory.

Not for the feint of heart, Chervo is a brand that features quality, and yes, you’ll pay for it. But it’s worth it, and if you’re interested in spending a little more on what you wear on the course, while the same pieces offer the versatility and style that would fit a cocktail hour or even a nice dinner on the water, this is the brand for you.

Pure Class

Chervo is worn by several professional golfers, including Matteo Manassero of the Asian Tour, and Johannes Veerman of the DP World Tour. Additionally, 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational winner Kurt Kitayama wore the brand for two years, but moved on recently.

The look is simple, classy, and sharp, something that aligns with many golfers style points in the modern game, even as things are on the way to a more casual and less flashy feel on the course.

Nonetheless, Chervo has something to offer everyone. Whether you need a lightweight hoodie for a round on a links course just off the ocean, or a pair of shorts that will cater to both the afternoon foursome and the lunch on your friend’s boat after, Chervo has something for you.

What I Tried and What I Loved

Chervo sent me a handful of different products to try, and what I found was something that was versatile enough for both golf and a nice dinner. I wore the pieces at a local course, and I wore them out to dinner in Florida on vacation:

  • ADEMAS | DRY-MATIC® STRETCH PIQUET POLO

  • PUZZLE | LIGHTWEIGHT SUNBLOCK® QUARTER ZIP HOODIE

  • GRIFFIN | SUNBLOCK® PERFORMANCE SHORTS

  • ABRIGO | SUNBLOCK® ECO FREINDLY PRINTED POLO

Quality, Class, and a Great Fit

The ADEMAS polo was a classic take on a performance golf polo that offered breathability, style, and a great fit. It is lightweight and breathable, and allows for you to stay cool while taking on the links on a hot or humid day.

One thing in particular that I truly enjoyed about this polo was the fit. Other polos don’t seem to have the tailored fit that this one does, and it offers what I consider to be an appropriate quality for the price. This shirt is listed at $195.50 on Chervo’s website, and it, in my opinion, is worth the money, especially if you have a desire to pay a little extra for the extra quality and feel.

The PUZZLE Lightweight Hoodie was perfect for a multitude of reasons. It is a thin, lightweight, and breathable hoodie that has a performance feel and a tailored fit. I found this to be an ideal option for both breezy days off the course and the “in-between” ones on it.

It has a lot of advantages, and one of the biggest is that it was not restrictive. Hoodies are becoming more popular in the modern game and I have found that there are a lot of companies that are still relying on non-performance materials with theirs.

This one is stretch-based and non-restrictive, which is a huge plus in terms of your golf game. Cotton hoodies are great for hanging out at the house in, but not super ideal for athletic activities where you are in need of free-flowing movement.

This hoodie is listed at $230.

The ABRIGO polo is a slightly different material than that of the ADEMAS, as it is less textured and much smoother. Thing of this as your typical performance polo. The fun design on the shirt encapsulates the early Summer months; there is no better way to spend them than near a body of water somewhere tropical.

This polo also features Sunblock® stretch jersey, providing sun protection with its UV mattifying finish. It’s really a great option if you’ll be playing golf somewhere with high UV ratings. Your skin will thank you later.

This polo goes for $207.

Finally, the GRIFFIN Short is one that I believe will cater to a certain audience. I must admit, I was not a huge fan of the fit of these, but another pair was sent after I expressed this to Chervo, and a different fit was more preferable.

These are a tight, 9″ inseam pant with an outseam that still reaches the top of the knee. It is undoubtedly an interesting fit because they’re not a super long short when they’re on you, but the inseam is still relatively long at 9″.

These might definitely be something to consider if you are having trouble finding the ideal fit with other shorts out there. Personally, I enjoyed the way these fit me, but I like a snug fit with my pants and shorts. I prefer the tailored fit and not a super baggy look that others like.

These shorts are priced at $230.

The Bottom Line

What you get is what you pay for. While there are other brands out there that offer quality that is relative to Chervo at a lower price, you won’t get the versatility out of those that you would with these pieces.

As previously mentioned, there is room for these clothes on the tee box or at the dinner table, and you may end up buying multiple pieces from other brands, whereas Chervo will get your taken care of with just one.
