When did the DP World Tour start working with PIF?

The ties went back to 2018 between PIF and DP World Tour to create the Saudi International in 2019.

What is the real benefit of partnering with the PIF?

It grows collective revenue for all tours because the real benefit is the capital that PIF brings to the game. Also, it will help unify golf around the golf world.

What happens to players that stayed loyal to the DP World Tour?

Pelley shied away from this question, but players that broke away will be welcomed back after paying fines and serving suspensions. No bonus or perk for members that stayed loyal as of now.

When will the merge happen?

After the 2023 season, the Tours will work together to grant memberships back to players that would like to return. As it stands, there will be consequences, as mentioned above, for the players that went to play on LIV.

Why and how did the DP World Tour & PGA Tour join up with the PIF?

Pelley proclaimed they did what is best for the consumer, stakeholders, and all professionals involved, again the advantage points to the money PIF has. It happened through the “art of confidentiality.” Pelley wouldn’t comment further on how exactly they reached the merge.

What about human rights issues?

Pelly stood firm to make mention that this has never been about human rights. “We don’t mix politics with sports (DP World Tour).”

What will happen to Ryder Cup qualifications?

Pelley said that Ryder Cup requirements remain the same, nothing changes, you still need to be European and be a member of the DP World Tour, you need to qualify and be picked by Captain Luke Donald.

What makes the Saudis great partners?

Pelley believes H.E. Yasir O. Al-Rumayyan showed great commitment to the game and to growing it through the creation of the PIF Saudi International golf tournament in 2019.

Still more has to be seen on what happens at the conclusion of the 2023 season, with the PIF now having their desired merge. What will it actually look like in effect?

Only guys like Pelley and Jay Monahan (PGA Tour Commissioner) may have the final answers.
