Sergio Garcia was one of just eight golfers that qualified for the United States Open at Los Angeles Country Club yesterday. Garcia narrowly survived and charged through qualifying with a dramatic back nine that saved his hopes to try and win a second career Major Championship.
Coming off of his first missed Major Championship in 24 years at the PGA Championship, which fellow LIV Golfer Brooks Koepka won, Garcia was attempting to avoid missing another as the U.S. Open Qualifying Rounds were his last chance.

Back-to-back 66s will send Garcia to L.A. next month, but it did not come without drama.
After a 66 at Bent Tree Country Club, Garcia had an afternoon round at Northwood Club, with eight spots at stake in a 120-player field, which consisted of several notable names.
Garcia sat two off of qualifying after the morning round, and things seemed bleak for the Spaniard until the Par 5-14th hole came around, according to Golf.com. Garcia managed to eagle the hole with a 3-iron into the green and a 6-foot birdie putt, all but sealing his fate to play at the U.S. Open next month.

Garcia secured his spot with a closing birdie on the 18th. His -9 was good enough for T4, which he shared with both Paul Haley and Roger Sloan.
Several notable PGA tour names failed to qualify, including Ryan Palmer, Ryan Moore, Brandon Wu, and Doug Ghim.
Carson Young ran away with qualifying with a 63-62 to finish -16. Austin Eckroat was -11 in 2nd, and Brent Grant finished -10, good enough for 3rd.
