Cameron Kuchar, the 15-year-old son of PGA Tour mainstay Matt Kuchar, has made it through local qualifying for the U.S. Open after firing a 3-under 69 on Monday at Wellington National Golf Club in Florida.
Cameron is a familiar face to many golf fans as he regularly joins his Dad at the annual PNC Championship, where many father-son duos, like Charlie and Tiger Woods and Little John and John Daly, team up for the event.

Cameron will now move on to a 36-hole qualifier on June 5, which is just one of ten being held in the United States. There are also qualifying events in England on May 16, Japan on May 22, and Canada on June 5, according to the event’s official website.
The Kuchars reside and Florida, and since Cameron played his local qualifier in the State, it is likely he will play at Pine Tree Golf Club, which is located in Boynton Beach.
Cameron finished in 2nd place at his local qualifier, just one shot back of winner Jordan Gumberg. Kuchar recorded a bogey on his final hole.

Matt, on the other hand, is sitting in prime position to qualify for this year’s event, which will be held at Los Angeles Country Club. Kuch is sitting at 47th in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), which would automatically qualify him for the event if he can stay above 60th by the May 22 or June 5 cutoff dates, according to Golf Week.
Matt’s best finish in the event was T-6 at the 2010 event, which was played at Pebble Beach and won by Graeme McDowell.
