I love spiked shoes. I love BOA laces. I do not, however, love squeezing my foot into shoes and getting blisters and cramps while walking and playing. The Ecco Biom G5, fortunately, has no such issues.

Starting at its sole, the BIOM G5 is a spiked golf shoe featuring six ZARMA-TOUR spikes that are combined with ECCO’s innovative MTN GRIP for stability, ground penetration, and rotational support throughout the swing.
The midsole consists of a combination of trick technologies, including NATURAL MOTION technology, based on the natural shape and movement of the foot, FLUIDFORM cushioning to provide cushioning and rebound for those ground forces.
At the top of the G5 are laces or BOA, depending on your preference, that are paired with ECCO Performance Leather that incorporates GORE-TEX technology to provide 100% waterproofing.

The BIOM G5 isn’t just a technological showpiece for ECCO, the G5, indeed, performs. Without any break-in rounds, I took the G5 with me to Florida over the winter to play Streamsong’s immaculate golf courses. It was a hot, hilly, and memorable experience largely because the G5 allowed me to focus on playing quality, enjoyable golf.
Right out of the box, you immediately notice the G5’s soft, supple leather (which can comfortably be broken in after one solid round). The Extra Width Sole and BOA system makes sure that your fit is hugged and secure but not strangled. Moreover, while your knee-jerk reaction to GORE-TEX may be that the G5 traps heat, it doesn’t. Despite the Florida heat and humidity pushing the “real feel” above 90 every day, my feet were able to breathe and stay dry and comfortable even during the afternoon peak heat.
No golf shoe is perfect simply because it’s impossible to make everyone happy; people will just always complain about something—comfort, feel, traction, style, colors, lacing options, etc. The BIOM G5, however, gets pretty damn close. The clean colorway and design makes the G5 look great in every color, regardless if you’re getting dressed up for the country club round or throwing the shorts for a casual round with the boys at the local muni.
The G5’s will make sure you enjoy those rounds, no matter if you’re walking or riding and the weather cooperates (or doesn’t).
