Joohyung “Tom” Kim put in a clutch performance at the Wyndham Championship last week that had to make Tiger Woods proud, and now, Kim said he’s taking advice from the 15-time major winner.
Kim overcame a quadruple-bogey 8 on the first hole of last week’s tournament to roar back with a 61 on Sunday to win the tournament that he had to win to reach the FedEx Cup playoffs, which start this week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, Tennessee.

This week at TPC Southwind, Kim told Pga Tour Radio on Sirius XM why he doesn’t even know how much he won last week.

Kim explained:
“I do not care because I found out that Tiger never checked how much he earned—ever… I asked him a long time ago, ‘Do you know how much you made at that first win in Vegas?’ and he was like ‘No’. He didn’t, he had no idea and I thought about, you know what, I play golf – this is always going to follow if you do well, and it’s great to support the family and everything, but if I can just play good then everything else is going to take care of itself.”
Kim became the youngest non-American-born player to win on the PGA Tour in nearly 100 years, and he’s also the first player born in the 2000s to win an event.
