For those who were interested in watching four of golf’s stars play in their skins matchup this weekend, you know that Jason Day outlasted Tiger, McIlroy, and Hideki Matsuyama. What you might not have noticed, however, is the apparel Day was Wearing.
In the final round of The Challenge: Japan Skins, Jason Day was matched up with Tiger Woods to determine who the ultimate winner of the event would be. When the two teed off, Tiger began the event by wearing a navy blue Sweater Vest. After getting through about half of the front nine, however, Tiger switched that out for a full sweater. But the sweater vest went to good use.
After Tiger switched into the full sweater, Jason Day appeared with him on the next hole, wearing the sweater vest that Woods had previously been wearing. I guess Day realized that he might be a little chilly and asked for the vest when Woods took it off. Or maybe he just thought it would be a funny thing to do for the cameras and the fans. Regardless, social media had a field day with it.

I think the best part of the whole story is that Day was able to beat Tiger while wearing his opponent’s clothes. And even after he won the skins matchup over Tiger, he posed in all of his pictures wearing the sweater vest with the classic TW. Day even joked that that’s why he won.
“I think it was all in the vest,” he said. “I stole Tiger’s vest today.”
While this was a fun little event to watch and really brought attention back to the game of skins, the real fun is yet to begin. If you weren’t able to tune into The Challenge, you will have ample opportunity to watch all four of those men plus more at the Zozo Championship later this week. It will be the first-ever official PGA TOUR event in Japan so there is bound to be even more excitement.

Seeing how well he played after stealing Tiger’s vest, Day may want to wear that all week for the Zozo Championship. Even if he doesn’t, he’s bound to be in contention this week and if you want to catch the action, be sure to tune in when the event tees off on Wednesday night.
