You Couldn’t Break These REKS Sport Sunglasses if You Tried

Summer is everybody’s favorite time to play golf. There’s no football on yet, so you’ve got your Sundays to kick back, tee it up and relax before heading back into the office. The only downside might be that it’s super bright out from the minute you’re up until you’re finishing up that last cocktail before settling in for the night.

As a result, sunglasses are particularly important during the summer, not only to help protect your eyes, but just to help you enjoy your time on the golf course, beach or wherever.

However, the biggest problem with sports-focused sunglasses is that they tend to be pretty expensive, which makes it hard to justify the expense when you’re anticipating they’ll just get scratched or broken while jumping in and out of the cart.

Fortunately, Reks Sunglasses don’t suffer from either of those flaws.

Immediately noticeable is that REKS are virtually indestructible. The unique advanced polymer frame material allows the frames to be entirely flexible, bendable, and unbreakable. Indeed, try to pull the frames apart and they’ll return to their natural shape once you let them go. As a result, you can sit on your REKS and they’ll still be good to go when you need them.

I had the opportunity to test out the Sport Style Frames with the Golf Trivex Color-Boosting lenses. The rose amber tinted lenses have a light transmission of 30%, which are perfect for medium light days, and are also perfect for tracking the ball and picking up on the contrast in the ground conditions on the brightest days.

Indeed, while the lenses allow in more light than the standard dark tint, you’re able to have a more precise visual experience, which is necessary in golf where you need to see the contour in the fairways and greens. Moreover, the REKS lenses are anti-reflective and feature an oleophobic coating that reduces glare and help keeps them free of smudges and dust (which is a huge help when you’ve got to hit that bunker shot and don’t want to wipe your lenses with your sweaty hands that are covered in sunblock).

The REKS were a huge help from the first round I put them in play. I usually tee off around 9 a.m., so by the time I’m hitting the turn the sun is a full strength, which tends to make it more difficult to track the ball against the sky. Additionally, the extra sunlight tends to wear out my eyes a little faster.

Fortunately, the Golf Trivex lens let in that perfect amount of light. While my playing partners were attempting their best to track the ball after getting blinded while finishing their swing, I was able to swing freely, look up, spot the ball, and track it with ease. Additionally, because the lenses aren’t too dark, I was confident wearing them from tee to green as I had to evaluate and assess different lines and read the greens.

Off the course, the REKS were equally at home. Indeed, the Sport style frames feature a traditional design that allows them to be used almost anywhere—golf course, beach, backyard BBQ, etc.

In fact, while using them at the beach, I never worried about accidentally sitting on the REKS because the frames flexed and returned to their normal shape (as opposed to snapping in half). And while the lens weren’t designed for the more robust beach sunlight, they still found that perfect balance between reducing the intensity of the sunlight and stress on my eyes, and not blocking out too much light that I couldn’t read my book or phone.

In sum, REKS makes literally unbreakable sunglasses in a variety of frame styles and lens colors, and all at an incredibly attractive price point that is approximately half (and even less than half when you start comparing polarized models) of what the competition is selling a very similar product for. And if you’re still not sold on how durable (see: bombproof) REKS are, don’t worry. All REKS sunglasses come with a 2-year warranty.

So in case you’re looking for a new pair of shades or a quality Christmas gift for that golfer (or the clumsy cousin who keeps sitting on their shades), make sure to check out REKS.
