Gun of the Week: Winchester model 77
The Winchester model 77 is a .22 LR rifle introduced in 1955 in two magazine versions.
The rifles had walnut stocks with a choice of tube or box magazine. The receivers were made of steel and featured a charging handle on the left side.
Cartridge of the Week: 44 Russian
The 44 Russian cartridge was not created in Russia, it was created by Smith & Wesson in America, but it was created for the Imperial Russian government.
The 44 Russian came as the result of contract negotiations between the Imperial Russian government and Smith & Wesson. The Russians wanted to purchase some S&W Model 4 revolvers, but wanted a more modern, non-heeled bullet. S&W reduced the bullet diameter of the .44 S&W American cartridge from .434" to .429" and added internal lubricating grooves. The also increased the length of the cartridge to prevent it from being used in revolvers chambered for the .44 S&W American as the new Russian produced higher pressures.
The .44 Russian is the grandaddy of the .44 Magnum.

Bubba Gun of the Week:
This weeks bubba gun comes from D'Squarious Jackson Jr. of Compton California. He entered the gun in our turd round of Golden Poop competition. The Hi-Point pistol was painted in Rust-o-leum Ghetto Gold and added a slide mounted red dot sight, gangster style.
D'Squarious said of his chances of winning, "if I don't win somtin, Imma shoot somebody"
