This Week in Firearms History:
November 5: Guy Fawkes Day/Gunpowder Day, in 1605 Guy Fawkes fails in his attempt to blow up Parliament; in 1910 gunmaker L.C. Smith dies, in 1911 Roy Rogers is born, in 1948 Bill Ruger files patents for his pistol.
November 6: In 1939 Hitler denies that he intends to go to war against France and Britain; in 1951 Stalin announces that the Soviet Union possess an atomic bomb.
November 7: In 1917 Communist Revolution takes place in Russia; in 2007 British Corporal Craig Harrison killed two Taliban with consecutive shots at 2,707 yards (1.54 miles).
November 8: In 1871 the Great Chicago Fire, in 1887 Henry "Doc" Holiday dies in bed with his boots off.

The story of the model 65 dates back to the introduction of the first K-frame in 1899.
The model 66 was a "Combat Magnum" while the model 65 didn't get a nickname, it could be called a "Military & Police Magnum".
The model 65 saw use with many police departments, including the U.S. Customs Service, as the fixed sight was more rugged than the adjustable sight models.
The model 65 was dropped from the catalog in 2004. They can be found for very reasonable prices.
Cartridge of the Week: 7mm Remington Magnum
The 7mm Remington Magnum was introduced in 1962 along with the Remington model 700.
The cartridge features a belt at its base used for headspacing as well as strength.
The cartridge was designed to compete with the 264 Winchester Magnum and be a flatter shooting, faster version of the venerable .30-06. The 7mm Mag can be loaded with bullet weights ranging from 110 to 195 grains.
