Newgy Robo-Pong Comparison – Which Robot Should I Buy?

The Newgy Robo-Pong table tennis robots are currently available in five different models; 540, 1040, 1050, 2040, and 2050. Which one is right for you? Which one should you buy? In this article, I will complete a Newgy Robo-Pong comparison to help you to make that decision.

Newgy Industries is a US company that is well-known for producing high-quality table tennis robots. Newgy has their own factory in China and all their robots are exclusive to them – they aren’t sticking their logos on other Chinese robots. You can buy from Newgy via Amazon.

5 Newgy Robo-Pong Robots

The are five Newgy Robo-Pong models currently on sale and they vary significantly in price and features.

  1. Newgy Robo-Pong 540 = $279
  2. Newgy Robo-Pong 1040 = $329
  3. Newgy Robo-Pong 1050 = $499
  4. Newgy Robo-Pong 2040 = $579
  5. Newgy Robo-Pong 2050 = $749

The 1050 and 2050 are the newest digital models. They have the ability to remember drills and can be connected to a computer. The other three robots are analog and have been around for a while now.

The 540, 1040 and 1050 are all tabletop robots. The other two attach to the end of the table and are able to recycle the balls using the built in net.

Which robot should I buy?

I believe the answer to this question comes down to whether you are simply looking for a “cheap” robot or a “good” robot.

  • If all you want is a cheap robot then I would recommend going for the Newgy Robo-Pong 1040.
  • If you are looking for a good robot then I would suggest getting the top-of-the-range Newgy Robo-Pong 2050.

I will now quick run through my thoughts on all five robots.

Newgy Robo-Pong 540

I don’t like the Newgy Robo-Pong 540 as it can’t oscillate and can’t hold many balls. This will get quite annoying. It is also very similar in price to the much better Robo-Pong 1040. Therefore, I wouldn’t advise anyone to buy this model.

Newgy Robo-Pong 1040

The Newgy Robo-Pong 1040 is still a fairly basic robot but it can do everything you would want from a simple machine. As it doesn’t recycle balls you want to go for this one as it can hold over 200 balls, so you don’t have to spend all your time collecting and refilling the robot. It is still very reasonably priced at $329.

Newgy Robo-Pong 1050

The Robo-Pong 1050 has a lot more features than the 1040 but it is also a lot more expensive. I’m not really sure who wants to buy an advanced tabletop robot. If you are ging for something tabletop and small you would normally be after something cheap and cheerful. If you want something “good” you would go for a proper robot with a built in net that is able to recycle balls and attach to the table.

Newgy Robo-Pong 2040

This robot is able to recycle balls like a “proper” robot but it is still very basic in features. It is identical to the Robo-Pong 1040, so you are basically paying an extra $250 just to get the ball net and recycling feature. This doesn’t really make any sense to me. If you want something good you might as well get the best and newest model, the 2050.

Newgy Robo-Pong 2050

This Newgy Robo-Pong 2050 is the top-of-the-range Newgy robot. It is a really good robot that is able to do practically everything. It has a built-in memory that can save your favorite exercises/drills. It has the net to recycle balls. It can give you random drills. It is much more advanced than the Robo-Pong 2040 and really does cost that much more. That’s why I like the Robo-Pong 2050 – $749 is actually really good value!

Conclusion

So there you have it. If you want to buy a Newgy Robo-Pong table tennis robot I would recommend either the 1040 or 2050. It really depends on your budget. If you are looking to save money, go for the Robo-Pong 1040. If you want a modern, advanced robot at a great price, go for the Robo-Pong 2050.
