Specialty Instructor training on Phuket

After the successful PADI IE on Phuket, we had a deserved sleep in and some time off before we started the much anticipated specialty instructor training.

4 days with 11 Dives and 16 specialties lay ahead of us, with 2 days with 3 boat dives per day, a beach dive with 3 dives in a day and a beach day with 2 dives. Besides this busy schedule we also found time to complete the Emergency Oxygen Provider instructor training.

The first started off with a 3 dive trip to Koh Dok Maai for the first deep dive out of 2, the King Cruiser Wreck, which I dived 15 years ago for the last time, for the first wreck dive out of 2 and Shark Point for a Fish ID dive.

The next day it was off on a boat again to Racha Noi for the second and deeper deep dive followed by a Digital Underwater photography dive and the second wreck dive at Racha Yai with penetration drills.

Day three brought us to the pool in the morning and to Kata Beach for a day of 3 side mount dives for the diver level certification. Each dive the confidence and comfort with the new equipment set up grew.

The last day, yesterday, brought us back in the classroom to complete the Emergency Oxygen provider course and finish off all required classroom stuff associated with the specialty training.

After that it was off to Kata beach again for a side mount instructor dive for Tanya and the Underwater naturalist dive for Yoann during which we combined Nitrox dives.

This was followed by a nice night dive, a great closure of all the diving and specialties we have completed over the last 4 days. Thanks Tanya and Yoann for the fun and the diving opportunity and to show you around in the specialty training world, it was my pleasure.

Now it's time to go home again for me and recharge for the next PADI IDC, scheduled to start 8th April in Khao Lak, Thailand which is followed by a program starting 2nd May on Gili Air in Indonesia, directly followed by a program scheduled to start 26th May in Moalboal in the Philippines and a home game scheduled to start 10th June on Koh Samui, Thailand.
