Orkney Duo fair well in Highland Tour Competition

Six players from Orkney participated in the weekend's Highland Tour event in Thurso's, Weigh Inn. The event was the third of five events in the Highland Pool Tour which also sees competitions take place in Forres, Inverness and Dingwall.

This was the first event to see representation from Orkney and Orkney were done proud with two of our finest players, Neil Cormack and Keith Keldie making it to the last 4. Unfortunately this is where they came up against each other and it was Keith who put in a scintillating display, clearing from all four of his breaks in a 7-1 victory. Neil had been in excellent form throughout the weekend, knocking out several of the Highland's top players en route to the semi final.

In the final Keith came up against former World Champion Gavin Phillips from Inverness. Both players played tremendously but it was Gavin who edged Keith out by 8 frames to 6.

The event proved very popular with all players and indeed it is hoped that some day a Highland Tour event will be held in Orkney
