What Is Lenny Kravitz’s Net Worth?

Kravitz has an estimated net worth of $90 million dollars. Not only has Kravitz sold over 40 million albums, but he’s also appeared in several hit films. Who Is Lenny Kravitz?

Music superstar Lenny Kravitz was born Leonard Albert Kravitz in New York City. He was named after his uncle Leonard M. Kravitz, an American soldier who was killed in action during the Korean War. Lenny’s father, Sy Kravitz, was a television producer, while his mother, Roxie Roker, was an actress.

After Roxie was cast on the show The Jeffersons, Kravitz and his family moved to Los Angeles, where he joined the California Boys Choir. Kravitz showed an aptitude for music from an early age, earning choir solos and performing alongside the Metropolitan Opera. He attended Beverly Hills High School, where his classmates included Slash and Nicolas Cage.

In 1985, Kravitz met actress Lisa Bonet at a New Edition concert. The two quickly became friends and started a relationship two years later, in 1987. Later that same year, the couple eloped to Las Vegas. The relationship and marriage was heavily covered by tabloids.

During this time, Kravitz began recording his first album under Romeo Blue. After recording most of the songs alone, he enlisted his friend Stephen Elvis Smith, the music supervisor on The Cosby Show, to help him find a label. Lenny signed with Virgin Records, who encouraged him to give up the Romeo Blue alias and release the album under his real name.

Lenny Kravitz released Let Love Rule in 1989. While the album received a mixed reception in the United States, it was a significant success in Europe. Lisa Bonet directed the music video for the single and title track, “Let Love Rule,” and Kravitz opened for artists like Bob Dylan and David Bowie to support the album. The success of Let Love Rule led to new opportunities for Kravitz, who co-wrote and produced the song “Justify My Love” for Madonna in 1990.

In 1991, Kravitz released his second album, Mama Said, and produced a self-titled album for French singer Vanessa Paradis. Later that same year, Kravitz and Bonet separated, and the couple officially divorced in 1993. Kravitz continued to write and produce for other artists, including Aerosmith.

Kravitz released his third album, Are You Gonna Go My Way, in 1993. This was his first album to feature American guitarist Craig Ross, who has continued to play on all of Kravitz’s albums. The video for the lead single, “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” won an award for Best Male Video at the MTV Video Music Awards.

In 1999, Kravitz received his first Grammy award, winning Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for his song “Fly Away.” He was again awarded Best Male Rock Vocal Performance in 2000 and 2001 for his songs “American Woman” and “Again.” “Again” also received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song, and the video for the track won an MTV Video Music Award for Best Male Video.

Kravitz released his eighth and final album for Virgin Records, It Is Time for a Love Revolution, in 2008. While he continued to write and record new music, Kravitz also started acting, making his feature film debut in the movie Precious in 2009. After a few years away, he released a new funk rock album with Roadrunner Records called Black and White America in 2011.

In 2012, he appeared as Cinna in The Hunger Games and reprised the role in the 2013 sequel, Catching Fire. He released his 10th album, Strut, via his own label Roxie Records, in 2014. The following year, he played the Superbowl XLIX halftime show alongside Katy Perry.
