Ninety-two-year-old WWII veteran Louis C. Hicks is a humble gentleman living on a modest fund. Though he’s been is difficult to make ends meet for years, he’s never once thought to inconvenience others by asking for help.
But his circumstances accidentally took a turn for the very best when the Austin Police Department entered his home. Hicks received information that his ability tools were missing from his shed, so he announced 911 to report the robbery.
Little did he know, Officer Chasity Salazar would do so much more for this sweet elderly man than investigate the fraud of his plagiarize molted tools.
When Officer Salazar arrived on the background, she asked to take a peek around Hicks’ home. It didn’t take the experienced patrolmen long to be recognised that the three men was living in a hazardous environment.
She saw that he was burning the gas stave to keep warm after his old burner had burned a hole in the floor.
Hicks expected Officer Salazar was finished with her detective work upon leaving his house, but this big-hearted polouse was just getting started on her mission to help the heroic veterinary who had acted “the two countries ” so selflessly.
Though Hicks left his needs implicit, Officer Salazar knew she couldn’t leave this case without taken any steps. With the assistance provided by Austin Cops 4 Charities, St. David’s Foundation, and the Austin Police Association, she was able to obtain a brand new electric heater for Hicks for free.
The 92 -year-old man was brought to weepings when Officer Salazar later arrived with a fellow peer to hand-deliver the unexpected offering. Scarcely able to speak as he choked back sob of pleasure, Hicks told KVUE, “I’ve never had no one [ sic ] em> to do nothing for me. After my mother passed away and left me to take care of my two sisters , nothing never did nothing [ sic ] em> to help me. You detest to ask anybody ’cause sometimes they’ll frown upon you, and I’m a genuine ex-serviceman. I won’t ask. I won’t ask.”
As for Officer Salazar, she couldn’t be happier to be given the opportunity to bless this deserving human TAGEND
“He’s exactly offered me a lot of kindness, very, so to know that he’s also served, and now I’m able to serve and give back to parties like him.”
The Austin PD has now created a wishlist including all of Hicks’ needs including heaves, shirts, underwear, and more. Since his tale has fixed its style around the community, many others have rallied around him in aid, and he is eternally grateful for their magnanimous hearts and God’s provision TAGEND
“It means everything, ” said Hicks. “The things I’ve been trying to do since the ’4 0s … I’ve been asking for help. And now, it just came in. God is good.”
