Bludenz, Austria As teenage daughters, they hastened down snow-covered Alpine ascent in pursuit of prevailing Olympic gold. They were hero-worship by tens of thousands of Austrians who clapped them as national protagonists, their best contestants, the respect of a small commonwealth.
In November 2017, a few months after the first allegations regarding sex offense violated against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, which he revokes, the #MeToo changealso began to unravel Austria’s majestic skiing record. Nicola Werdenigg, a onetime Olympic skier, was the first to express their views on what she calls the systematic Abuse of power that has just taken place in the Austrian professional skiing community more than 40 years ago.
While Werdenigg should not explicitly lists the male teammate she said abused her when she used 16 and her occurrence never uttered it to field, by sharing her ordeal, others have been encouraged to go too public with their stories.
