( CNN) Employees in jeans have become a common spate, if not standards and norms, in countless workplaces these days.
Even some corporations that used to require formal work attireare opting for a Business Casual look.
At General Machine, the Dress Code is now time two names: “dress appropriately.” Facebook, with its loathsome hoodie-wearing Ceo, doesn’t have a dress system at all. EBay doesn’t have a formal dress code either, but expects their staff to “use their best judgment” to garment professionally for the study that they do, according to a company spokesperson. Amazon supports employees to be “comfortable at work.” And Wall Street fixture JPMorgan relaxed its dress code to business casual.
Casual dress systems are used to help lure and retain employees, but without the uniform of a suit to rely on, craftsmen have to decide for themselves what’s appropriate. And that can be difficult.
More wiggle room with a duty wardrobe opens up more options and sometimes, effects confusion: Is this too short? Is this blueprint to loud? Am I overdressed?
